Position: Locksmith
Rate: $39.78 per hour
Work Week: Monday – Friday: 7:00AM – 3:30 PM
Reports To: Lead Locksmith/Director of Facilities Engineering
Position Summary
Maintains all of the locks and door hardware on campus. The supervisor of this position is the Lead person for the Locksmith Shop.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE POSITION
Maintains all of the locks, keys, hardware, hinges, and closers for campus. Installs new locks and disassembles locks. Replaces tumblers, springs, knobs, plates, etc. This includes locks on doors, desks, and filing cabinets. (75%).
Makes keys in accordance with the master coding system. Rekeys locks for security reasons. (15%)
Maintains accurate records of hardware installations and issued keys. Records bidding combinations, names, locations, and dates. (10%)
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
Maintains inventory of supplies and materials, such as blank keys, locksets, and other parts.
Lifts heavy doors on a regular but not daily basis.
Performs all work through an automated work order system and documents the hours and materials expended. Reports all deficiencies beyond his responsibility on work orders or to the Lead Person.
Keeps Lead Person informed of all major jobs and any delays on major tasks.
Sweeps, vacuums, and cleans up work area after completion of job. Maintains tools so they are clean, operable, and properly stored.
Position Requirements: High School diploma/ Local 68 Apprenticeship Graduate or attendee
Possess valid NJ driver’s license, Experience with locksmith work. (education/certification in locksmith work will be considered in lieu of work experience),
